It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to the website of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Delta Iota Omega Chapter. We are witnesses of a Dream that has become a reality. We have laminated and embraced the vision of our charter members with eagerness and graciousness and are now fulfilling their Dream of carrying on a growing chapter in Pensacola, Florida.
The reality of AKA’s Dream started with nine students at Howard University who cast the defining mold for Negro sororities. Their design wrought a Sisterhood posited on the principles of high scholarship, leadership, and ethical and moral standards; and committed to service.
As part of the Dream, our local chapter, charted on November 23, 1946, will soon celebrate 73 years of service in and around the Pensacola area. With more than 70 college-educated women, we are actively involved in implementing our International Programs. Through our Signature Program, Pink in the City, we annually donate over $10,000 to Making Strides against Breast Cancer (MSABC), Covenant Care for Alzheimer’s National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and the Sorority’s mentoring and other community service programs.
Please return frequently to our website for ongoing updates and like us on Facebook.
We welcome members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® new to the Pensacola area to join us for our chapter meeting on the first Saturday of each month January through June and September through December at 11:00 a.m. at The Ivy House, 2600 North Davis Highway in Pensacola.
With warmest regards,
Cheryl Elliott Reeves, President
